Former Chief of Police Val Courtney was honored by the City Council, officers of Centre Police Department and local citizens at a recent City Council meeting for his 20 years of service to our community. Courtney retired Feb. 28, 2011.

I have really enjoyed working with the people. It has been a pleasure and blessing to serve. The best part of my job has always been being able to help people.

His dedication and service to the City of Centre and citizens as police chief have lead to a great sense of security to our community.
